indent Abstract
Handball is a collective and dynamic sport with a high-risk factor which lead the players in injuries with high frequency. Purpose of this study first of all was the registration injuries on knee and ankle joints, secondary purpose was the prevention of handball players. The material formed of 216 players from 18 sports clubs in A1-A2-B division category and clubs from local championship. Each player complete a questionnaire relating to injuries incurred during the previous 24 months. The results showed high frequency 42.6%. Specifically knee and ankle joints have the higher frequency injuries 27.2% and 20.7% for each joint. The injuries mainly caused from conflicts of handball players against opponents 46.7%. Conclusively it could be speculated that handball belongs in sports with high-risk danger in relation to the frequency injuries. The prevention must include: preventive medical check, use of protective materials for knee and ankle joints, suitable athletic shoes, suitable education of players, strict application of regulations from the arbitrators, continuous education of arbitrators, daily, suitable drawn, preventive, and specialised program of training, use of stretching exercises after the programme of training.
