indent Abstract
The research included 166 articles and 1731 references (related to the topics of the theory of sports training - hereinafter TST) from one national magazine. Two of the subsamples of the articles and their references were obtained from the corpus of works on TST topics, published in the period from 1985 to 1989 (period A) and from 1993 to 1997 (period B) in the periodical 'Physical culture'. The research follows the changes in the characteristics of a periodical informational source occurred between two time intervals (longitudinal changes) which fit into the Olympic cycles as for the length of duration. The obtained results confirm the assumption on the changes in bibliometrical characteristics of the articles and their references. Overall, the most cited journals are Kinesiology, Physical culture, European Journal of Applied Physiology, Sports practice, Journal of Applied Physiology.
