The sample of 234 7th and 8th grade boys, attending elementary schools located within the town of Sombor, was subject to body composition assessment by using the indices of body composition (body mass index) and methods by Mateika. Based on the estimated fat mass value, using the method by Mateika, the subjects were categorized by age, as recommended by McCarthy et al. Based on indices of body composition, also depending on the age, they were classifi ed into categories according to the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) standards, determined by Cole et al. There was a significant difference in the number of subjects classified in the category of the overweight and those classifi ed in the category of the obese in favor of greater sensitivity of the method by Mateika. Considering that for both categories medical monitoring is recommended, the results of the research give priority to the assessment of body composition by the method by Mateika despite much more complex methodology.

The study basically aimed to establish and analyze the morphological characteristics of elite female basketball players aged 14 and 15 playing in Divisions A, B and C of the European Championship as well as to compare these groups of players. For this purpose, a sample was used consisting of 115 female basketball players aged 14.64 (±0.48) of whom 35 played in Division A, 48 in Division B and 32 in Division C of the European Championship. 23 standard morphological measures and 7 morphological indexes were applied to find out the morphological profile of the players (somatotype components, percentages of bone, fat and muscle tissue and body mass index). The results show that the Division A players are the tallest of all three player groups (p<0.05). This applies to the entire sample of subjects and to all three player types (guards, forwards and centers). No major differences were identified between the Division A, B and C players in terms of the somatotype components, except for the mesomorphic component where the Division A players achieved slightly lower values. Fairly equalized values were also established in the percentage of bone, muscle and fat tissue. The results of the study show that body height is the factor in the area of morphological dimensions which most evidently differentiates between the high quality players and those of lower quality in all three playing positions.

The purpose of this work was to determine the structure of latent factors, to identify and analyse groups of game tasks under specific attributes and variables, to classify the tasks into relatively homogenous groups, and to determine the differences between the acquired groups of tasks. In order to achieve the above mentioned it was necessary to construct a measuring instrument (questionnaire) for the registration of knowledge in the game of basketball. For the characterisation of entities, 16 specifi c attributes were chosen, according to which ten competent experts performed the assessment. Within the research space, factor analysis under component model was used, along with Guttman-Kaiser criterion and OBLIMIN rotation. Three latent dimensions in the space of specific game attributes were isolated: information component, energy component (game intensity) and socio-motor interaction. Along with factor analysis, hierarchical method of classification was used, where the tasks in the space of specific game attributes were classified into three homogenous groups. In the space of specific attributes three groups were acquired and they were interpreted as A, B and C.
• Group A – tasks that demand high energy component, low socio-motor interaction and low information component,
• Group B – tasks that demand above average information component, a bit lower energy component and below average socio-motor interaction and,
• Group C – tasks that demand high level of socio-motor interaction, low energy component and medium information component.
Objectively scientifically arranged groups of associated data can directly influence the creation of curriculum and syllabus for basketball players training, evaluation of players' performance, and they make the foundation for the realization of further researches in the field of team sports games analysis.

Why do the young participate in sport? What is the perception of sport among sportsmen and sportswomen? Different organizations use sport as a tool to achieve a deeply heterogeneous gamma of goals: some consider the competition very important, others consider the health benefits, some place more emphasis on the aggregative value of the sport and others are attracted by the economic market. Unfortunately sport can also show, sometimes, its negative face: the violence, the discrimination, the shadow of nationalism. The goal of this research is to study the perception of sport among young athletes in Belgrade. Why in Serbia? The whole former Yugoslavia has recently been a theatre of inter-ethnic conflicts: those conflicts left a deep mark in the society, in people's memories. In addition, sport also represents an instrument of social escalation, a way to escape poverty. In this context sport can assume different values and can be used in different development policies. The research is based on quantitative methods: the form, based on Linkert scale, is composed by five batteries of items related to six concepts of sport (education, socialization, health, fun, participation and competition), the final part is related to the sport-idols. All the Junior volleyball players from Belgrade – season 2008/09 – filled the form: according to their opinion, education and socialization are very important, health, competition and participation are relevant, fun is relatively important. An healthy lifestyle is the most important benefits of participating in sports. During training it is very important to improve skills and communication. "To play well for the team" is the main quality of the "champion" and it is also the most important aspect during the game. Important goals during the regular season are those of participating in the championship and getting a good position in the final ranking. The main sport-idols are Serbs and males.

The exercise program called "omnibus" aerobics represents an exercise program specially designed to meet the needs of women for recreational exercise, as well as motivation to improve physical appearance and body weight regulation. "Omnibus" aerobics incorporates a variety of program content with the primary goal, in addition to local and general effects on the body; to make the exercise more interesting and accessible to trainees. The aim of this research was to determine the effects of implementing a specially designed group fitness program on selected morphological characteristics of the trainees. The survey was conducted on the sample of female respondents (n = 10), aged 33.6 ± 6, who led sedentary lifestyle up to the start of application of the experimental program (less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week). The average height of women was 170 ± 6 cm and the average body mass at the initial measurement was 74.2 ± 12.73 kg. The effects of the "omnibus" aerobics were observed in the area of morphologic characteristics and motor variables from the area of force. After the experimental program that lasted for six months, three times a week for an hour, there was a statistically significant change in most of the researched variables. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that a specially designed exercise program called "omnibus" aerobics leads to positive changes in body composition, as well as in selected motor variables from the area of force.

The phenomenon of Summer Paralympic Games was discussed in this paper from scientific/theoretical and practical aspect. In order to understand the interpretation of axiological aspect of Summer Paralympic Games, we briefly presented: occurrence and development retrospective, Paralympic movement in the world and here, taxonomy of competition skills, some past researches, as well as critical comment on the existing problems. This paper's mission is to point to the necessity to incorporate the young into the values of Paralympic Games, to develop curiosity sense in the researchers, to involve the media and the society more, and all that for the development of Paraolympic sport.

Bearing in mind the importance given to the perception of feasibility and appropriateness of monitoring physical development and motor abilities of children and young people in physical education instruction in Europe and the U.S., a need has arisen to analyze the current situation and the relationship of our physical education teachers to this issue. This paper aims to identify and analyze the current situation regarding the monitoring of physical development and motor abilities of students in our country based on our previous views, relations and ways of monitoring the physical development and motor abilities of students in physical education instruction by physical education teachers. In a sample of 189 physical education teachers, a non-standardized questionnaire was used to obtain information about the current state and the relationship of teachers towards monitoring the physical development and motor abilities in physical education instruction. A high percentage of physical education teachers monitor and test physical development and motor abilities to some extent, which suggests that teachers are aware of how important and signifi cant this segment of physical education classes is. However, using a different battery of tests, individual tests in these batteries, as well as the interpretation of tests of teachers' own choice in monitoring the physical development and motor abilities of students in physical education, conceptually speaking it is not good, both for understanding the usefulness of such monitoring, and from the aspect of continuous monitoring and comparability of the obtained results. The absence of a legitimate and meaningful concept in monitoring the physical development and motor abilities in physical education, and adequate battery of tests appropriate for school setting in which PE teaching is applied, suggests a necessity of establishing a uniform model in Serbia.
